Clinica has three full-service pharmacies to make it easy for patients to get their prescriptions. We participate in a federal medication program that allows us to purchase medications at a discounted rate, and we pass these savings along to our patients.
Please note, you must be enrolled as a current medical patient with Clinica in order to use our pharmacies. Patients with Medicaid benefits are welcome to use our pharmacies.
For your convenience, we have full-service pharmacies at our Pecos, Thornton and People’s clinic locations. Pharmacists are available to fill prescriptions and answer questions. Patients from at any of our locations can use these three pharmacies.

Name Brand & Generic Medications at Discounted Prices for Our Patients
We’re here to help ensure our patients get the medications they need at a price they can afford. Because Clinica participates in a federal prescription program our patients’ medications will cost much less here than they would at other pharmacies. We also stock some over-the-counter medications and diabetic supplies for patients’ convenience. We do not stock any narcotic medications or other controlled substances. These prescriptions need to be filled at commercial pharmacies.
Medication Assistance Program
Clinica works directly with manufacturers to enroll patients in medication assistance that helps pay for medications that still prove costly. Most drug manufacturers offer this service. Patients with medication assistance can qualify for deeply discounted prices.
Clinica has three full-service pharmacies with a pharmacist on staff to answer your questions and fill your prescriptions while you wait. These are located at our People’s Clinic in Boulder, the Thornton clinic and our Pecos clinic in north Denver. Patients from any clinic can use these pharmacies.

Clinica participates in a federal program called the 340B Drug Pricing Program that allows us to provide our patients with medications at a low cost.
The program was created to help clinics, hospitals and other health care providers offer affordable medications to low-income patients. Clinica can purchase many drugs at significantly reduced prices — typically 25% to 50% less than commercial pharmacies. We pass those saving along to our patients.
To participate in the program, health providers must meet specific criteria, such as serving a large number of underserved patients. Community health clinics and other safety-net providers qualify. Patients qualify at Clinica when they receive a prescription from a Clinica provider.
Since Clinica pharmacies do not carry all medications, we partner with Walgreens pharmacies to dispense these drugs. Patients can receive some discounted medications at these locations as well.

Can someone else pick up my prescription?
In most cases, a patient can authorize a family member or friend who is 18 or older to pick up their prescription from the pharmacy. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) has provisions for picking up a prescription for someone else. Pharmacy staff use their professional judgment to determine if it’s appropriate to release a prescription to a family member or friend. The main concern is ensuring a patient’s wellbeing and privacy, so they may ask questions to verify the patient’s personal information (e.g., date of birth or address). Call us if you have questions.
How do I request a refill of my medication?
•If you use an outside pharmacy:
Call the pharmacy phone number on the label of your prescription when you have 3 days left of your medication. Know the name, strength, and prescription number of your medication.
•If you use a Clinica pharmacy:
Call the Clinica pharmacy refill line (720) 207-0150 when you have 3-5 days left of your medication. Calling ahead prevents delays and long wait times. Know the name, strength, and the number on your prescription. If you are using the automated system, enter all of the numbers before and after the RX#. If you need to speak with the pharmacy staff, follow the phone prompts. If the pharmacy is busy, staff may not answer. Please leave a message, and we will call you back. Most refills will be ready within 72 hours. If a prescription is not picked up within 14 days, it will be canceled.
My doctor sent a prescription. Why isn’t it ready?
We do not start filling a prescription until you have checked in at the pharmacy. After your appointment, please let the person at the pharmacy window know that you are waiting for a prescription.
Why can’t the pharmacy fill a prescription from a specialist who doesn’t work at Clinica?
Clinica has closed-door pharmacies. This means we only accept prescriptions written by Clinica providers for active Clinica patients. If you receive a prescription from a specialist and want it filled at Clinica, you will need to work with your Clinica provider directly. They may agree to review the consult notes and resend the prescription under their name.
Why did the price of my medication change?
Clinica participates in a medication discount program. We have always passed the discount through to patients, charging only what we pay without any mark-ups. A recent federal policy change caused our discount to be reduced, resulting in higher medication costs. Unfortunately, the price increases are out of our control. Speak with your provider about potential alternatives.
